Kuni Kawasaki is London Liaison for Industry and Government Affairs (for the head of the group) Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Co. Ltd. Kuni joined Sumitomo Marine & Fire Insurance (now Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance) in 1997. He started off in the Reinsurance Department and oversaw the launch of the group’s two flagship reinsurance subsidiaries in Dublin and Bermuda. In 2004 he was seconded to the Japanese government and worked on cross-border service and investment trade policy at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Kuni returned to Mitsui Sumitomo in 2006, and was put in charge of regulatory and trade issues in the Corporate Planning Department. He then went on to work in the IAIS (International Association of Insurance Supervisors) Secretariat from 2009 to 2011 and became one of the original architects of ComFrame (Common Framework for the Supervision of Internationally Active Insurance Groups). He holds the current position since April 2011.
